Important Tips to Help Your Bunny Stay Happy and Healthy!
- If you already have a bunny at home, and get a companion for it from us, we recommend keeping them separate for a minimum of two weeks (30 days is preferable) for health reasons before you introduce them. When you are ready for them to meet, make sure that the process is gradual and that they are supervised at all times. At first, place them in a neutral area. Keep the initial meeting brief, no more than 5-10 minutes. Then gradually build from there. The next day can be for 10-20 minutes. The the 3rd day might be for half an hour, and so on until you are confident that they can stay together full time. At the first sign of aggression, please separate immediately or squirt the rabbits with a spray bottle filled with plain water. The important thing to remember is to be patient. Every bunny is different. The bonding process can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to several months. There are some bunnies that may never be able to get along with other cage mates, and will have to be housed separately.
- When you first adopt a Fuzzy Buns rabbit, you will automatically receive: a care guide, a small bag of pellets, hay, and a packet of herbs. The brand of pellets we use Manna Pro. If you do not intend on giving this particular brand of pelleted rabbit food in the long-term, we recommend mixing a small amount of your preferred pellet food with what we provide, gradually increasing the amount over the course of at least a week to prevent gastrointestinal problems.
- Transitioning to a new environment can be stressful for a rabbit. Feel free to sprinkle 1 to 2 tsp of the herbs we provide over your new bunny's pellets to aid him/her in adjusting to its new surroundings. The Chamomile and Comfrey in the mixture can have a calming effect on an agitated animal, while the Echinacea can help boost the immune system.
